Description
Methyl isobutyl carbinol (MIBC) is a clear, colorless, organic liquid with a mild odor, classified as a branched-chain aliphatic alcohol. It is primarily used as a frother in mineral flotation processes, especially for copper, molybdenum, and other sulfide ores. Beyond mining, MIBC is also used as a solvent, chemical intermediate, and in the production of lubricants, hydraulic fluids, and coatings. It has moderate volatility, low solubility in water, and good compatibility with organic solvents.
