Barium Carbonate

Barium carbonate (BaCO₃) is a white, odorless, and crystalline chemical compound that occurs naturally as the mineral witherite. It is insoluble in water but soluble in acids, where it reacts to release carbon dioxide. Barium carbonate is widely used in the ceramics industry to produce glazes and specialty glass, as well as in the manufacture of bricks, tiles, and ferrites. It also serves as a precursor in producing other barium compounds. Due to its toxicity, especially if ingested, handling requires proper safety precautions.
